Story Four
SMART amp helps make your lesson a colourful tapestry of teaching ways.
We had a wonderful set of very good written assignments in our workspace.
The only thing to do now was to embroider these with interactive content. The students
could work on their own texts as well as anybody else´s in the team, the only
rule was they had to tell the mate in advance. The only instruction was that
the additional content had to be relevant to the information in the written
one, so they had to read the written part carefully and discern which bits
they´d add digital content to.
So as you can see, there was a lot of focused work and planning before
they actually started searching for digital content and adding it. However, it
wasn´t a quiet work-on-your-computers-and-no-talking lesson as while they were
working I was joining them, talked about the content, asked questions, and now
and then gave a helping hand.
By the way, I do really encourage my students to be self-reliant. I
always ask them for their ways of dealing with something and only confirm or
hint some other ways of sorting something out. (Have you noticed I don´t say “better
ways”? ,-) At the same time, I am absolutely convinced that using SMART Amp
helps students learn what self-reliance is.
Look at the lovely patchwork.
